New Year's Pow Wow - Sketches

Today I went to the 15th annual American Indian Powwow in Tucson, Az. I did a few sketches that did not come close to doing the dancers justice, so I am including some photos (entry below) to give an idea of some of the amazing costumes there were today. I enjoyed the dancers, the drummers and the Navajo tacos on fry bread. I even participated in a round dance. It was a good way to start the New Year!

I really like the way you've concentrated on the costumes and left out details of the individual dancers. This leaves something for the imagination and I can almost see them dancing...particularly the one top right. Thanks for sharing. :o)

Aren't pow wows fun? Love the way you were able to capture the colors and styles of the costumes ... the feathers, the fringes -- very well done!

I remember going to this a few years ago and you have captured the colors and movement so well.

Fascinating photos! There was an incredible amount of detail, near impossible to get but you captured the essence really well!

Like your sketches. I live in Southern California and we are thinking of moving to Tucson.
